You can reduce the play in your steering wheel by tightening the pitman arm bolt and adjusting the end-play of the sector shaft.
These two adjustments can remove up to two inches of steering wheel play.
That's necessary, if you want to judge your car with the Touring Class Judging Standards. A loose steering wheel will cost you 25 points, and become a safety factor when driving your car.
